Community » OOC Community »

There are a ridiculous amount of journal-based Harry Potter RPGs out there. In fact, there’s so many, that it seems absurd that someone can’t find just one that strikes their fancy. But consider it, the really good games are too big, and you’d feel lost if you joined. The smaller games tend to turn inactive fast. Then there are, of course, the games chock full of novices or with players with so many characters they can’t devote a good amount of time to any one of them. Oh, and don’t forget the games that are thrown hastily together. The ones that haven’t put time nor thought into their plots, still use the default layout on the journals, and are forcing you to look at crappy graphics. Many of you are probably rolling your eyes at this advertisement, probably skipping over it, but maybe, just maybe, I’ve peaked some of your interests.

Artis, despite its somewhat clichéd Latin name, is different. I know you’ve heard that before. Different. But, I promise, this time it’s true. The game is player-based. The quality of the characters, the quality of character development, and the quality of writing is what makes up Artis. The Latin word for art, skill (in its genitive form, because not only is it cooler as a possessive, but it sounds better), artis, is the game’s namesake for this reason. The players who will make up this game will each play a main character (see the list), in many different time periods and situations. The characters will be developed further than what you thought possible. This game is meant to be fun, of course, and there are some who will simply eat up details and character development. The players at Artis are the type who take great joy in describing the details of the time Hermione Granger read her first book, the first time she set foot in a Library, her emotional turmoil, her heart, her mistakes, her complete history, her future, her likes, dislikes, beliefs- anything and everything that might be of interest. The game is about the life of the characters, the drama, and the lulls. The journey, the road- that’s what matters.

But, what, of course, of the plot? Why, that’s for us to develop. Players of such caliber as those of Artis should be able to develop the plot for each era, come up with the standard set of events that aren’t presented by canon. Arits is complete, unadulterated, creativity. While there are several procedures to be followed to keep things neat and cohesive, Artis means creating pasts, presents, and futures for characters. But, don’t think canon is the only area represented. Arits also offers a community for ‘what-ifs’, things that could have been changed, things that might have happened.

Interested? Explore the community thoroughly before applying. But, please do apply. The game has begun, and we are currently seeking a Neville (held, but up for challenge), Ernie and Luna (held, but up for challenge) quite desperately!
